Born and raised in Chicago, I started to develop my skills shooting for commercial studios that produced work for the major national catalogs. Moving to San Francisco in 1982, I became Head Photographer for the Sharper Image Catalog, helping to create the photographic style that the catalog became noted for in the 80’s.
In 1989, I opened my own studio and began shooting for advertising and editorial, and in 1991, Photoshop changed my life. Since then, I have worked to hone a unique style that incorporates dramatic lighting and blends multiple images into convincing photorealistic composites.
Beginning in 2009, I began working for the Photography program of the Academy of Art University, developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate level classes in digital imaging.
